Nature of activity

The center has been headed by director Gediminas Kunčinas for more than 40 years since the first days of the laboratory’s establishment. The center operates profitably. Part of the profit is allocated to the purchase of new laboratory equipment. New European Union standards are adopted in Lithuania every year.

“In order to maintain the market position, it is necessary to master new
testing methods, and this requires significant investments in the purchase of new equipment.

The company is increasing its modern laboratory equipment: a powerful 14m3 automated refrigeration chamber has been installed, enabling tests of concrete environmental management elements, natural stone, and aggregates for frost resistance.

Modern German equipment has been purchased for determining the crushing resistance index of crushed stone by the impact method. Modern presses, a German dynamic punch and static plates, drying cabinets, electronic scales, sieve sets, an asphalt concrete wheel rolling track determination device, the latest model extractor, a Marshall press, an automatic penetrometer, an automatic Proctor device, etc. have been purchased. Some of the small equipment is constructed by the center’s specialists themselves.

We are growing and improving

The center employs 32 people. In 2014, work was completed for 2.4 million litas. The accreditation area is constantly expanding – new European standards are being mastered. The center aims to become a notified body, conduct tests, attracting customers from the European Union.

UAB Laboratory Testing Center is authorized by the National Accreditation Bureau to organize interlaboratory tests (PT) of viscous road bitumen in Lithuania. PT is organized once every two years.

The center always participates in PT tests organized by other countries (cement) or accredited laboratories (mineral materials, concrete, asphalt concrete).

The center’s specialists actively participate in the activities of the standards department committees under the Ministry of Environment, the coordination council of the construction certification center (SPSC), the construction committee of the Ministry of Environment, the NAB construction committee and the construction associations VŠĮ “Skaitmeninė statyba”.
